Frequently asked questions:

“The Demo won’t come off how do I get it off?”

You cannot be skinless in second life therefore you cannot take skin off. You remove a demo or skin by putting on another, or returning to the one you were wearing before. This will probably be in your body parts folder.

“I bought something and did not receive it.”

Sometimes second life has problems. If you buy an item and do not receive it in your inventory, try closing second life and then logging in again. Usually the item is there when you return. This is caused by second life server lag.

“What is rez, why is it all blurry?”

Rez is the word we use for a form of lag. A texture can appear blurry while it is coming in. Sometimes rez can be quite bad and it can take ages to stop being blurry. This is a downfall of Second Life that most residents have come to live with.

Sometimes a garment or skin will rez faster if you pop in and out of appearance a few times. Another thing that sometimes helps is to take it off and put it back on a couple of times (clothes) or switch between skins/demos. Sometimes a relog helps also but the most important thing is patience, we all suffer from slow rez, it will get there eventually.

What’s a box?

A box is what the skin or item on the wall is in, often this looks like a flat picture. If you mouse over it tells you waht the items in the boxes are.

Other problems.

If you have a problem which seems like a texture isn’t loading on your garment or skin correctly, try ctrl d client>character>rebake textures can fix most avatar/skin/clothing problems.

Sometimes a mini skirt is made with shorts/pants and a prim skirt. Always try all the items in the folder on before thinking that you have parts missing.
